About Braille
Braille is a tactile writing system for the blind, using patterns of raised dots. This tool maps letters to Unicode Braille characters (Grade 1, letter by letter).
How it works: each letter maps to its corresponding Braille dot pattern and is shown as a Unicode Braille character (e.g. ⠁ for "a"). Decode turns the patterns back into letters.
This tool is useful for learning about Braille, creating Braille text samples, or understanding the letter mapping. Note: it is a simple Grade 1 transliteration, not full contracted (Grade 2) Braille.
FAQ
Can this Braille tool both encode and decode?
Yes. This is a single page with a toggle — use Encode mode to transform text, and Decode mode to reverse it. No need for two separate pages.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. Braille is processed entirely in your browser. The text you enter never leaves your device.
