About NATO Phonetic

The NATO phonetic alphabet maps each letter to a word that is clear when spoken (A=Alfa, B=Bravo, C=Charlie, …) to avoid mishearing in voice communication, especially over radio or phone.

How it works: each letter is replaced by its code word and digits by number words. Decode reverses it: code words become letters again. Spaces between code words separate characters.

NATO phonetic is used in aviation, the military, and customer service to spell names, codes, or serial numbers accurately. This tool helps encode and decode phonetic spellings.

FAQ

Can this NATO Phonetic tool both encode and decode?

Yes. This is a single page with a toggle — use Encode mode to transform text, and Decode mode to reverse it. No need for two separate pages.

Is my data sent to a server?

No. NATO Phonetic is processed entirely in your browser. The text you enter never leaves your device.
